WHEELING, W.Va., April 29 – Jade Miller, a native of Washington, Pennsylvania, has been selected the valedictorian of Wheeling University’s class of 2025.
As valedictorian, Miller will address her fellow graduates during the University’s Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 3 inside the Alma Grace McDonough Center.
The 2025 salutatorian is Abigail Elliott of Moundsville, West Virginia.
Miller, the daughter of Dr. Steven and Carolyn Miller, will graduate with bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Psychology. She was a member of the Student Government Association, serving as the vice president as a junior and the president this academic year. Additionally, Miller participated in the Bible study throughout her academic career and was a Kairos Retreat rector.
“When I walked onto campus four years ago, I had no idea of God’s plan for me could be in the small town of Wheeling, West Virginia. I quickly learned that those ‘country roads’ had led me to my home away from home, Wheeling University. This University has shaped me into the student, athlete, friend, and person I am today,” Miller said.
The Trinity High School graduate plans to enter the Marietta College Physician Assistant Program this summer.
Elliott, who finished with the second highest grade point average among the class of 2025, is a graduate of John Marshall High School. She served as secretary of the Student Nurses Association, was a member of the Psychology Club and a Resident Assistant.
The daughter of David and Krista Elliott of Moundsville, Elliott will graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. As the salutatorian, Elliott offered remarks during the Honors Convocation held on April 24.
“The past four years have profoundly shaped my life in ways I never expected,” Elliott said. “Wheeling challenged me to push beyond my limits, both personally and academically, while also helping me build meaningful relationships that will last a lifetime.”
Following graduation, Elliott will work as Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse at WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.
Wheeling University’s 67th Commencement Ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. inside the Alma Grace McDonough Center. Rev. David Griffin, O.S.B., director of Campus Ministry at Wheeling University, will deliver the Commence address.
