WHEELING, WV

Wheeling Jesuit University’s annual giving campaign, “1,151 Reasons to Give,” will feature different students over the next several months in a spotlight series. The students will have the opportunity to discuss why they chose to attend Wheeling Jesuit and what they have experienced during their time on campus. This series will also allow potential students, alumni, donors and the community to get to know the student body.

The two students highlighted are Marianna Kibak, class of 2020, and Jennifer Richmond, class of 2021.

Marianna Kibak

“I attended Wheeling Park High school here in Wheeling prior to starting at Wheeling Jesuit University. I chose to attend WJU because my mother is an alumna. Wheeling Jesuit was a home for her and I knew I wanted it to be a home for me too. I soon realized that not only does Wheeling Jesuit make the students a family but the community a family as well. I am a chemistry major looking to pursue pharmacy. I am a part of the tennis club and Project Hope. My favorite part about Wheeling Jesuit is the small class sizes, which makes learning easier and more personalized. Moreover, it made me closer to some of the best teachers I have ever had.”

Jennifer Richmond

“I am majoring in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Special Education. I plan to graduate in 2021. I am from Glen Dale, WV, so I commute to Wheeling Jesuit. Before coming to WJU, I graduated from Bishop Donahue High School. What drew me to the University was how similar it was to my high school; WJU has a family atmosphere that is undeniable. It also allows me to receive a college education at an affordable price. The transition from high school to college was made easy by the staff and students here. The professors at WJU go above and beyond for the students. I love that the professors know each student by name; students are not just numbers here. I could not have made a better choice regarding my college education. My favorite thing about WJU is the family feeling I get on campus. The professors, students, and staff are always welcoming and willing to help anyone.”
