WHEELING UNIVERSITY BASKETBALL COACH TO HOST YOUTH CAMP

WHEELING, WV

October 10, 2019, Wheeling, WV – New Wheeling University men’s basketball coach Will Ryan will host Junior Cardinals Youth Camp for two weekends in October.  There will be two camp sessions, with session one taking place on Saturday, October 19 from 9 a.m. to noon and session two set for Sunday, October 27 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Junior Cardinals is open to boys and girls, in second to sixth grade.  Participants will learn basketball skills and drills from Cardinal players and coaches. All sessions will take place in the Alma Grace McDonough Center on the Wheeling University campus at 316 Washington Avenue.  

Camp participants may choose one or both sessions, with pricing being $30 per session, or $50 for both sessions and including a t-shirt and pizza lunch along with an autograph session. Campers are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to start time and sign-up is available at www.wucardinals.com/camps

“This is a great opportunity to introduce local youth to the sport of basketball, as well as, the amazing campus at Wheeling University. I am excited to offer this camp and to continue to grow our commitment to bettering our local community”, noted Ryan.

“We are very proud of what Coach Ryan has done for our University in his short tenure with us. We are grateful for his leadership on and off the court and committed to his continued success”, stated Wheeling University President Ginny Favede.

Ryan is the oldest son of College Basketball Hall of Famer and former University of Wisconsin Head Coach Bo Ryan.  He spent the past 16 seasons in Division I college basketball, most recently serving as an assistant coach for five years at Ohio University. Previously, he worked at North Dakota State University for seven years and the University of Wisconsin for five seasons.
