Wheeling University’s Workshops Offer Skills to Succeed Academically and Professionally

WHEELING, W.Va., February 14 – Wheeling University is offering weekly workshops to help students stay on track academically, as well as prepare them for the ‘real world.’

Amber Cool, coordinator of Career Services, said the workshops are designed to support students during their time at Wheeling University. The weekly programs will cover ways to help students grow academically and build stronger life skills.

Offered through the Student Success Center, the workshops are designed to keep students engaged in their four-year academic track, while offering them programming to assist with what awaits after college, said Cool.

“Each Wednesday session focuses on practical strategies and insights to help our students succeed in their academic and professional journeys,” Cool said. “Whether a student is preparing for a job search, navigating college challenges, or looking to build stronger life skills, these workshops will provide valuable tools and resources to help them succeed.”

The Student Success Center, she added, has the resources to help Wheeling University students grow in three key areas: academics, career development, and life skills.

In addition to the workshops, Cool is assisting students individually as well.

“The workshops offer the students a broader view of strategies to succeed. The individual sessions give students more detailed, personalized information to help build better skills to navigate college life, as well as prepare them for what comes after college. Also, I can assist students with finding internships, strengthening their resumes, and preparing them for a job interview,” she explained.

Wheeling University President Dianna Vargo, Ed.D., said, “The weekly workshops provide our students lifelong skills that will benefit them today and the their future endeavors.”Cool said future workshops will cover topics on career exploration, LinkedIn, social media and careers, professional communications, and business etiquette.
