Message from the President About Graduation 2020

Dear Students,

Commencement marks the culmination of years of study and preparation that have gone into Wheeling University student’s degrees.  The presence of family and friends signifies the support, love, and belief in you that have helped to make your graduation possible. On behalf of all of the Wheeling University Family, we are excited to welcome you back to campus next Friday and Saturday for the Wheeling University Class of 2020 Baccalaureate Mass and Commencement. The last few months have been difficult and trying for you and I hope that this ceremony will allow you and your families to celebrate your accomplishments.

We have been working to assure proper social distancing practices will be in place for graduation. Ohio County Health Administrator Howard Gamble has given his approval for our graduation plans. The diagram attached illustrates the layout for students, faculty, and guests seated on the Bishop Schmitt Field. It’s going to look a little different, but our goal is for our students, University Administration, staff, and faculty to be together one last time.  This day is about you and for you. Each student that has formally confirmed their attendance will be permitted six guests that will be seated socially distanced in groups of six on the field. Each student’s family/guest section will be titled with his/her name.

If you have not made reservations, we apologize that we are no longer able to accommodate you.

Sincerely,

Ginny R. Favede
President
